What happens when the crowd controls the comedy show?

This isn’t your standard stand-up night.

Twelve Perth comedians will take the stage at Tommy’s Highgate, but there’s one catch: the audience decides how long they survive.

Every comedian begins with one minute of immunity. After that, they can continue for up to three minutes  but their fate is completely in the hands of the crowd.

Throughout the show, audience members will have their own pin-shaped voting prop. If you’ve heard enough, raise your pin. When enough pins go up, our host reaches for the comedian’s red balloon… and POP! Their time is up and the next comedian takes the stage.

But if the crowd keeps their pins down? The comedian survives, keeps performing and has the chance to make it all the way through to the Grand Final.

Expect quick sets, unpredictable moments, crowd participation and some of Perth’s local comedy talent battling to keep their balloon alive.

And overseeing it all? A Secret Host, who will be revealed closer to the event.

The Night

Doors open from 4:30 PM, giving you plenty of time to arrive early, grab some food, order a few drinks and settle in before the show begins.

Show: 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Interval: Approximately 6:30 PM for 15 minutes

Tommy’s is a lively neighbourhood cocktail bar and cantina, so we encourage everyone to arrive early and make an afternoon and evening of it. 

Comedy With a Cause

This event is also about doing something positive beyond the stage.

A percentage of ticket sales will be donated to The Sharda Foundation, an organisation supporting children and orphans in Bali, Indonesia through education, care and other assistance. 

There will also be an opportunity to make an optional donation on the night, with funds raised going toward the foundation.
