Threads of Light

06:00pm, Fri 20th Feb 2026

Threads of Light, presented by Sofitel Melbourne On Collins, unites Ngali and jeweller Thomas Coen in a radiant fusion of silk, gems, and First Nations storytelling. This intimate showcase blends culture and luxury into a runway experience where each piece shines with meaning, artistry, and contemporary elegance.

Set within the refined surrounds of Sofitel Melbourne On Collins - Melbourneís celebrated Hotel for the Arts - the event unfolds in a space where creativity and sophistication meet. The hotelís luminous interiors provide the perfect backdrop for the interplay of jewel-like light and flowing silks, elevating each garment and jewel to a work of living art.
At the heart of the showcase is Ngali, the award-winning First Nations fashion label founded by Wiradjuri designer Denni Francisco. Known for transforming artworks by First Nations creatives into contemporary garments, Ngali brings story, memory, and Country to the runway with distinctive elegance.
Complementing the garments is the craftsmanship of Thomas Coen, a proud Jawoyn and Kala Lagaw Ya jeweller whose work honours his cultural lineage through gem-setting, form, and narrative.
Together, Ngali and Coen create a dialogue of texture, light, and story - an immersive celebration of First Nations creativity in high-end fashion and jewellery. Threads of Light is more than a runway; it is a cultural meeting point where beauty, heritage, and collaboration illuminate the future of Australian design.
