Make Use of Excess Produce

02:00pm, Sat 24th Apr 2027

Move over jam and chutney! This practical and inspiring workshop explores a range of creative ways to preserve and use surplus fruit and vegetables, helping participants reduce food waste while making the most of seasonal abundance.

Join Rin as she shares tips, tricks and techniques for transforming excess produce into nutritious pantry staples and healthy snacks. Topics include food dehydration, making fruit leather, creating vegetable and weed powders, producing plant-based flours, seed saving and eating, and clever solutions for dealing with unexpected harvests—or those ten zucchinis gifted by a well-meaning neighbour.

Participants will have the opportunity to sample a variety of homemade products, including dehydrated fruit leather and fruit and vegetable chips, while learning how easy it is to create these at home.

The workshop also features a live demonstration of fruit leather and vegetable chip preparation, along with a side-by-side comparison of different dehydrator models to help participants choose the best option for their needs.
